This is a full-time on-site role for a Code Enforcement Officer based in Elizabeth City, NC. The Code Enforcement Officer will be responsible for enforcing municipal codes and ordinances related to land use, zoning, building safety, and property standards. Day-to-day tasks include conducting inspections, investigating potential violations, maintaining accurate records, preparing reports, and working to ensure community compliance. Interaction with property owners and residents to provide education and resolve issues will be a key aspect of this role.
- Knowledge of Code Enforcement practices, Land Use regulations, and related guidelines
- Experience in Inspection processes and techniques
- Familiarity with Law Enforcement principles as they pertain to municipal code compliance
- Strong Customer Service skills and ability to communicate effectively with diverse communities
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail
- Ability to work independently and within a team environment
- Proficiency in using technology and software for record-keeping and reporting
- Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent work experience is preferred
