Position Title: Wastewater Collections Maintenance Technician

General Summary:
Under general supervision installs, repairs and maintains Wastewater Treatment Plant equipment, sewer collection systems and facilities including pumps, electrical circuitry and other mechanical systems. Reports to Superintendent.
Description:
Welds, repairs and maintains proper running condition on all lift stations, sewer lines, manholes, air release valves, check valves, plug valves and any other equipment used in wastewater collection.
Maintains electrical panels using the ability to troubleshoot such components as transformers, relays, phase monitors, alternators, breakers, motor starters, alarms, float switches, submersible as well as non-submersible motors and any other equipment pertaining to the electrical operation of a lift station.
Uses vacuum truck for opening blocked sewer lines, degreasing lift stations and assisting wastewater plant in some duties.
Performs confined space entries and uses various confined space equipment.
Participates in on-call rotation and assists other collection employees in emergencies.
Minimum Qualifications:
High school diploma required
3-5 years of additional training in mechanical and electrical maintenance or repair of wastewater collection systems required
Valid Florida Commercial (Class “B”) driver’s license required, or the ability to obtain within one year
Wastewater Collection “C” Certification required, or the ability to obtain within one year
Any equivalent combination of training and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities
