Recreation Staff - Summer Camp

SUMMER/SEASONAL EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITY

Position: RECREATION STAFF – SUMMER CAMP

Department: RECREATION DEPARTMENT 

Hours:

June 29, 2026 - August 7, 2026 (6-Week Program)

25 to 35 hours per week; Monday – Friday 8:30 a.m. – 3:30 p.m.

Pay Range: 

$17.00 - $17.50 per hour / No Benefits

Summary: Under the direction of the supervisors of the Recreation Department, the Recreation Staff Members – Summer Camp supervise campers (age 6-12) in the Summer Camp program. Staff members lead and assist recreation activities such as arts and crafts, sports, special events, and outdoor day camp programming. Some trained and specialized staff members may supervise developmentally & physically delayed campers (age 6-21).

General Responsibilities: The following serve as examples of the responsibilities of the position and are not intended to be a comprehensive and limited list.

• Maintains a safe, orderly, and positive environment. 
• Implements and coordinates inclusive recreation activities.
• Assists with athletic and artistic programs.
• Chaperones field trips and special events.
• Completes required data collection. 
• Performs related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Must be at least 16 years of age.
• Must have experience supervising youth. 
• Applicants working with developmentally or physically delayed campers must be 18 years of age or 2026 high school graduates with experience supervising or working with youth with special needs.
• Must pass a BCI (Background Criminal Investigation) if 18 years of age. 
• Must have a screening performed by the East Providence Police Department if under 18 years of age.
