What are the responsibilities and job description for the Meter Technician - Department of Public Works position at City of East Lansing?
Responsible for completing various assigned office and field activities assigned to the Meter Shop division which may include water meter installation, repair, maintenance, reading, calibration, and troubleshooting; coordinating assigned activities with contractors and other divisions, outside agencies, and the general public; and providing staff assistance to the Senior Meter Shop Technician and Operations Supervisor. May participate in the Department’s rotating on-call schedule.

Qualifications
Equivalent to a high school diploma. Additional specialized training and/or experience in water distribution system operations, Meter Shop operations, and general plumbing preferred. Must be able to interact with the public on a daily basis in a positive and professional manner. Must also possess an unrestricted Michigan driver's license with an excellent driving record.
Previous work experience should reflect a good attendance and timeliness record. Additionally, to perform the essential functions of the job, an individual may be required to maintain physical condition necessary to stand and walk for long periods of time, with moderate to heavy lifting, carrying, climbing, kneeling, bending and exposure to varying weather conditions, odors, fumes, and noise.
