Duties
- Provide strategic direction and operational oversight for all police department activities, including patrol, investigations, community outreach, and administrative functions
- Lead and motivate officers and staff to achieve departmental goals through effective supervision, training, and mentorship
- Develop and implement policies, procedures, and protocols to ensure compliance with legal standards and best practices in law enforcement
- Conduct criminal investigations with precision, utilizing surveillance techniques, evidence collection, report writing, and case management
- Manage emergency response efforts, including first aid and CPR when necessary, coordinating with local agencies during crises or incidents
- Oversee community policing initiatives to build trust and foster positive relationships between law enforcement and residents
- Ensure departmental readiness by maintaining equipment such as surveillance systems, vehicles, communication devices, and animal handling tools
- Enforce laws related to immigration, animal care, loss prevention, security threats, and other relevant statutes to uphold public safety
- Prepare detailed reports on incidents, investigations, personnel performance, and departmental activities for review by city officials or governing bodies
