What are the responsibilities and job description for the 27-006 Seasonal Maintenance Worker, SFT position at City of Dover?
The Recreation Director is seeking an individual to perform skilled and semi-skilled tasks in many phases of seasonal maintenance and construction of recreation areas, buildings, and facilities. May work on programs, events and projects.
This is a seasonal full-time position working 30-40 hours per week. $17.55 to $25.39 hourly. Position is open until filled.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (Except as specifically noted, the following functions are considered essential to this position. The listed examples may not include all duties found in this class):
1. Assist in the maintenance of Recreation facilities & parks.
2. Perform minor semi-skilled interior building maintenance such as painting and other unskilled trades work.
3. Perform custodial work such as required and assigned.
4. Plant and maintain lawns, trees, shrubs and flowers.
5. Support turf-management efforts which may involve seeding, fertilizing, top dressing, soil conditioning, watering of the City’s cemeteries, parks, open spaces and athletic fields.
6. Assist in maintaining and adjusting specialized turf care equipment and tools, including electric motors, pumps, sprinklers, tractors, mowers, and irrigation systems.
7. Collect and dispose of solid waste from buildings and grounds; pick up litter from premises.
8. Familiar with and executes safe work procedures associated with assigned work.
9. Assist in snow removal operations and mitigating the effects of natural and man-made disasters.
10. General landscaping, lawn mowing, weed-whacking, and related tasks.
11. Performs other related duties, as required.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILL AND ABILITY REQUIREMENTS: Some knowledge of, and the ability to use simple hand tools; knowledge of construction, electrical procedures and techniques; ability to perform simple and routine manual labor; even adverse weather conditions; ability to perform a variety of manual tasks; ability to understand and follow written and oral instructions. Ability to use office equipment, computers and communications equipment.
EDUCATION/LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: Must be at least 16 years of age, with minimum High School diploma preferred; Valid motor vehicle operator’s license; some experience in maintenance of grounds and/or lawn mowing experience; OR any combination of education and experience, which demonstrates possession of the required knowledge, skills and abilities.
