JOB SUMMARY:\

Under general supervision, supervises the activities and employees of

the Animal Shelter including\

performing all duties of an Animal Control Officer as necessary.\

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:\

(May not include all of the duties, nor do the listed examples include

all tasks which may be found in\

positions of this class.)\

• Supervises Animal Control Officers, other staff, volunteers and/or
  
  

inmates\

• Creates weekly schedule ensuring field services are covered 7 days a
  
  

week during regular and\

on-call hours.\

• Creates weekly schedule ensuring animal care is covered 7 days a
  
  

week\

• Arranges for necessary training for Animal Control Officers, other
  
  

staff, volunteers and/or\

inmates.\

• Ensures calls are answered in a timely manner.\
• Creates and updates Standard Operating Procedures.\
• Creates a budget and list of/order supplies and pharmaceuticals.\
• Maintains inventory of pharmaceuticals, ensures accuracy and
  
  

completeness of controlled\

substance logs, and security of controlled substances as required by the

Arizona Department of\

Agriculture and Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA).\

• Ensures that all field and shelter data is tracked accurately through
  
  

Shelter Luv software and\

provides reports to the Police Chief on a monthly basis.\

• Develops and updates a resource list for constituents in need of
  
  

assistance.\

• Builds transfer partnerships and the adoption program that will
  
  

result in the shortest length of\

stay and highest level of life saving.\

• Develops partnerships with local, regional and national animal
  
  

welfare groups.\

• Creates a volunteer program.\
• Cleans animal spaces, feed/care for animals when needed.\
• Ensures a Fear Free Shelter environment for all pets confined at the
  
  

shelter\

• Ensures all pets receive the necessary enrichment during their
  
  

shelter stay.\

• Performs the duties of an Animal Control Officer.\
• Maintains the integrity, professionalism, values, and goals of the
  
  

City by assuring that all policies,\

rules and regulations are followed and that accountability and public

trust are preserved.\

• Supports the relationship between the City and the constituent
  
  

population by demonstrating\

courteous and cooperative behavior when interacting with residents,

visitors and City staff;\

enthusiastically promotes the Citys goals and priorities in compliance

with all policies and\

procedures.\

• Works in a safe manner and reports unsafe activity and conditions.
  
  

Follows City-wide safety\

policy and practices and adheres to responsibilities concerning safety

prevention, reporting\

and monitoring as outlined in the City\'s Safety Handbook.\

• Maintains regular and reliable attendance.\
• May perform other related duties as may be assigned from time to
  
  

time.\
