The City of Deming is seeking applicants for Police Patrol Officers. Fully qualified, State of
New Mexico certified, or certifiable Police Officers are desired; however, Academy training may
be provided, if necessary. These vacancies are for full time, regular positions. A limited
relocation bonus may apply for out of area certified applicants. Point of Contact: Chief Lara,

Requirements of the Position: Applicants must be certifiable or currently certified by the State
of New Mexico or willing and able to attend Academy for certification; must pass an academic
skills test; be 18 years of age or older; have a valid New Mexico driver's license; a high school
diploma or GED; and be clear of any narcotic, felony, and/or moral turpitude criminal
convictions. Any individual offered employment will be required to pass a pre-employment drug
test, physical and criminal background check.

The primary responsibility of the position is general duty police work in the protection of life and
property through the enforcement of laws and ordinances. Qualified applicants will possess the
knowledge, skills, and abilities to satisfactorily perform a variety of duties in accordance with
departmental rules and regulations, receiving assignments and instruction from police officers of
higher rank, including routine patrol, investigation, and traffic regulation duties. Applicants must
possess the ability to work and deal with people in a tactful and courteous manner. Applicants
must be able to read, write, understand, and follow Departmental and City policies, rules, and
regulations.

To be considered for current vacancies, applications must be received at the City of Deming
Police Department. Announcement will remain open until all positions are filled. The
Department will periodically establish cut-off dates for consideration of applications. Contact
