Under general supervision, performs routine financial transactions and administrative duties, including collecting payments, processing financial data, and maintaining accurate records. Provides excellent customer service and supports related office functions as needed.
- Collect payments from the public for utilities, accounts receivable, assessments, license fees, permits, and other municipal services.
- Process electronic and cash transactions; provide accurate change and issue receipts using point-of-sale (POS) systems or digital payment platforms.
- Reconcile cash drawers and verify totals at the beginning and end of shifts; prepare daily financial reports.
- Accurately enter, update, and maintain financial records and customer accounts using modern financial software and databases.
- Review and process applications for permits, licenses, and renewals; maintain communication with applicants regarding status and renewal reminders via phone, email, or automated systems.
- Maintain and organize digital and physical filing systems, ensuring easy retrieval and secure handling of sensitive information.
- Operate office technology, including computers, multi-line phone systems, scanners, printers, and software applications such as MS Office, financial ERP system, and online payment portals.
- Provide friendly, knowledgeable assistance to the public by answering inquiries in-person, by phone, or through electronic communication channels.
- Perform routine audits of records and transactions to ensure accuracy and compliance with policies and regulations.
- Assist with other administrative and financial tasks assigned to support the efficient operation of the department.
Minimum of two years’ experience in a customer-facing role involving cash handling, basic bookkeeping, and clerical duties.
Must pass a background check as prescribed by the City of Davenport.
- Familiarity with financial software, payment processing systems, and standard office technology is preferred.
