Full Salary Range: $80,458 - $101,805 annually
Starting Salary Range: $80,458 – $90,504 annually, DOQ
The Athletics Coordinator is independently responsible for ensuring the design, development, implementation, coordination, promotion, and evaluation of daily programs and operations of the city’s athletic programs. They must be able to effectively manage day-to-day athletics operations and staff, volunteers, and contractors in a high-paced environment with a sizeable workload. They must consistently demonstrate a professional demeanor, including dependable judgment, responsibility and trustworthiness. This position may require work hours outside a normal work schedule, including special events, evenings, and weekends. In particular, this position will be required to work a significant number of Saturdays and occasional evenings, which are necessary to fill the position. Otherwise, there will be a bit of work schedule flexibility, depending on what management deems adequate to support the athletic programs and overall division operations. This is a full-time (average 40-hours per week) position, which is FLSA-covered and eligible for overtime compensation.
Education and Experience:
Minimum Criteria:
Bachelor’s Degree in Recreation or Recreation and Park Administration, five (5) or more years of relative full-time work experience related to athletics; or an equivalent combination of education and experience that would provide evidence of the skills, knowledge and abilities required to perform the job functions.
Preferred Criteria: (In addition to Minimum Criteria)
At least three (3) years working for a municipality. Experience with administrating recreation software and facility and athletic leagues scheduling.
Special Requirements:
- Active membership and involvement in the Washington Recreation and Park Association.
- American Red Cross First Aid, Bloodborne Pathogens, and CPR Certification.
- Certified Parks and Recreational Professional or ability to obtain.
- Continuing professional development in athletics/recreation.
- Possession of a valid Washington State driver’s license and a driving record acceptable to the City’s insurance carrier.
- Proper documentation to fulfill the requirements of the Immigration and Nationality Act within three (3) days of employment is a condition of employment with the City of Covington.
