Under general supervision, the purpose of the position is to perform a wide variety of semi-skilled maintenance and repair work using various technical skills (e.g., carpentry, electrical and plumbing.) at various city facilities. Performs preventative maintenance and repair of mechanical, electrical, structural and plumbing equipment and systems both inside and outside of buildings. Employees in this classification perform all work according to established safety standards, codes and regulations applicable to the work. Employees in this classification have previous experience in the trade, and can perform tasks independently, though work remains subject to review and inspection during and upon completion of assigned tasks.

- Complete and close out work orders as assigned in a timely manner
- Works from blueprints, drawings and written or oral instructions
- Perform general building maintenance and repairs including but not limited to replacing ceiling tiles, light bulbs and HVAC filters
- Perform general carpentry projects at various facilities
- Perform basic electrical troubleshooting and repairs
- Performs plumbing repairs including replacement of fixtures and drain cleaning
- Prepares and paints walls and woodwork or performs other types of refinishing
- Performs pressure cleaning
- Assist other trades in the performance of their work
- Perform other duties as needed or directed by the Supervisor and/or Facilities Manage
- High School Diploma or GED.
- MUST possess and maintain a valid Florida Driver's License
- Five (5) to seven (7) years of experience in semi-skilled commercial building repair and maintenance or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
- Ability to push/lift 75 pounds
- Ability to climb ladders
- Bending at waist, sitting, kneeling, climbing, walking, crouching as job may require
- Ability to work in extreme temperatures
- Operate power tools and gasoline powered equipment
- Working in high noise levels requiring hearing protection
- Work any shift and work overtime, including daily, weekends and holidays as may required
- This position may require you to be on call on a rotational basis.
