Overview
The City Clerk plays a vital role in the administration of municipal operations, ensuring that all city records are accurately maintained and accessible. The City Clerk will serve as a liaison between the public and city officials, managing various clerical and administrative tasks that contribute to the efficient functioning of the city government.
Duties
- Process payroll
- Maintain A/P and process payments to vendors
- Maintain and organize official city documents, including meeting minutes, ordinances, resolutions, and contracts.
- Provide clerical support by filing documents, proofreading materials for accuracy, and ensuring compliance with legal requirements.
- Assist residents and visitors by answering inquiries in person, over the phone, or via email while demonstrating excellent phone etiquette.
- Manage office operations including scheduling meetings, maintaining calendars, and coordinating logistics for public events.
- Support city officials by preparing agendas for meetings and distributing relevant materials.
- Utilize computer literacy to manage databases and electronic filing systems effectively.
- Ensure confidentiality of sensitive information while providing customer support to residents regarding city services.
Requirements
- Proven experience in finance (payroll, A/P, etc.)
- Proven experience in an administrative or clerical role.
- Strong time management skills with the ability to prioritize tasks effectively in a fast-paced environment.
- Proficient in computer applications including word processing, spreadsheets, and database management.
- Excellent proofreading skills to ensure accuracy in all written communications.
- Strong customer service skills with a focus on providing support to diverse populations.
- Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team setting.
- Familiarity with office management practices and procedures is preferred.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $18.00 - $19.00 per hour
