Job Summary:
Employees in this class are under general supervision. Work performed in a variety of parks and recreation maintenance and construction tasks.
Examples of work performed: works in parks construction or maintenance projects such as mowing, weed-eating, mulching, maintaining athletic fields, installing and repairing playground and park equipment, painting and repairing equipment, etc; performs work of an unskilled or semi-skilled nature when necessary; inspects equipment and performs routine maintenance on a regular basis, operates light and heavy equipment such as tractor, mower, bush hog, backhoe and dump truck. Performs related work as required.
Required Knowledge and Abilities:
Knowledge of occupational hazards and safety precautions
Knowledge of tools and equipment to be used in performance of duties
Ability to operate light motor vehicle and mowing equipment
Ability to follow oral and written instructions
Ability to establish and maintain an effective working relationship with the public and other employees
Qualifications:
High school education or equivalent is required. May require a Commercial Driver's License within six (6) months of employment, depending on assigned division.
Essential Functions:
Requires good hand/eye coordination and dexterity while operating and servicing a variety of tools and equipment. Must be able to lift up to 100 lbs. repetitively. Requires frequent stooping, crouching, climbing and twisting. Is exposed to extreme weather conditions, noise and dirt.
