JOB SUMMARY
The Transit Administrative Technician - Customer Service is responsible for performing para-professional administrative work to assist the transportation staff with customer service, data entry, electronic filing, creating reconciliation reports, and following up on supervisor's assignments as well as greeting the public by phone, e-mail, and in person. Assists in ensuring compliance in accordance with program specifications including audits and data collection based on the federally established standards/requirements for public transit projects within the City's Transportation Department.
QUALIFICATIONS
Education and Experience:
High school diploma or two years of related experience with a municipality or public entity. Preference for post-secondary vocational office/business training or coursework in public or business administration, computer systems, information management or related field.
Special Requirements:
Possession of a valid class "C" Texas driver's license or higher.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Strong customer relations, sensitivity awareness and communication skills.
- Skill in the use of personal computers and applicable programs, applications and systems.
- Ability to learn new software applications and instruct new users on basic software functions.
- Experience with Outlook, Microsoft Word and Excel.
- Familiarity with basic cashiering principles.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others.
- Bilingual skills - Spanish and English preferred
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
The work is light and requires exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force to move objects. Additionally, the following physical abilities are required: balancing, crouching, fingering, grasping, handling, hearing, kneeling, lifting, pulling, pushing, reaching, repetitive motions, speaking, standing, talking, and walking.
