What are the responsibilities and job description for the Temporary Meter Technician Part Time position at City of Concord?
The purpose of this temporary position is to provide service for customers with the City of Concord by reading water and electric meters.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Ø Reads water and electric meters.
Ø Prepares and maintains a variety of records and/or logs related to daily activities, inventory, and/or other related items.
Supplemental Functions:
Ø Performs other similar duties as required.
Job Specifications and Qualifications:
Knowledge:
- Customer service principles
- Recordkeeping principles
- Basic mathematical concepts
- Safe work practices
- City and county streets.
Licensing and Certifications:
- Valid North Carolina Driver’s License.

Working Conditions / Physical Requirements:
- Positions in this class require: standing, fine dexterity, walking, lifting, carrying, sitting, reaching, handling, kneeling, vision, foot controls, bending, crouching, hearing, twisting, talking.
- Medium Work: Exerting 20 - 50 pounds occasionally, 10-25 pounds frequently, or up to 10 pounds constantly.
- Incumbents may be subjected to extreme temperature, wetness and/or humidity, respiratory hazards, noise and vibration, physical hazards.

- Applying local, state and federal laws, rules and regulations
- Providing customer service
- Preparing a variety of reports and/or logs
- Communication, interpersonal skills as applied to interaction with coworkers, supervisor, the general public, etc. sufficient to exchange or convey information and to receive work direction.
Required Experience
High school diploma or equivalency, with at least one (1) year of relevant experience; or the City may consider an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job.
