Summer Youth and Adult Sports Intern (PT Internship) - (Seasonal Position)
About this Job: In this internship position, you will support the Youth and Adult Sports office with a variety of administrative and planning duties.
Job Type: Seasonal
Work Schedule: Monday – Thursday 8:00 am to 5:00 pm, Some Saturdays for football 3:00 p.m.?and 8:00 p.m.
Work Location: 1315 E. Pikes Peak Ave, Colorado Springs, CO
This is a seasonal (at-will) position with benefits limited to those required by applicable state and federal laws, which include Worker's Compensation, Medicare, Unemployment Insurance, and PERA (Public Employees' Retirement Association).
Approximate dates of employment will be mid - May to mid- August. Scheduled hours will vary based on department needs. Total hours worked will not exceed 1,500 annually.
As a Summer Youth and Adult Sports Intern, you will:
- Assist with registration processes for both youth and adult sports
- Assist in volunteer coaching recruitment via phone and email
- Provide support for programs by observing, assisting, leading, and planning
- Assist in completing league scheduling
- Assist with documenting and updating equipment inventories
- Assist with equipment distribution to teams and coaches
- Develop the participant’s performance skills
- Knowledge of basic fundamentals and techniques of various sports, fitness activities, and/or tournaments
- Ability to instruct or lead individuals/groups
- Ability to work and communicate in a team-oriented environment
- Ability to assist in the operation and control of organized recreation activities.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with other employee’s participants and the public
- Ability to take the initiative in asking questions, performing tasks, and in leading and supervising participants, as appropriate
- Ability to become familiar with and implement sports division policies and procedures
- Ability to interpret rules and regulations
- Excellent organizational skills
- Be enrolled as a full-time undergraduate or graduate student
- Experience or knowledge of sports or recreation activities
