About the Job: This internship helps the City track down unpaid sales tax. You’ll act like a junior investigator, looking into businesses that may owe money, figuring out if they’re still open, and helping the team collect what’s due. It’s a great way to learn how the City keeps things fair while having fun solving small mysteries.
Schedule: This position is slated to take place from June through August 2026 and will require 30-40 hours per week based on the incumbent's availability and the workload. As a Sales Tax Intern, you will:
• Make friendly phone calls and send emails to businesses that might have forgotten to pay their sales tax.
• Do online detective work to figure out if a business is open, closed, or has moved.
• Search websites, maps, and public records to help the team track down missing information.
• Spot patterns or clues that help us understand why a business might be late paying.
• Learn how the City checks for tax compliance and helps businesses stay on track.

You must be enrolled in a four-year accredited college or university, preferably in your junior or senior year
Experience in finance, sales tax, collections, accounting or a related field Experience or interest in working for a government or municipal entity
