Job Summary
Under general supervision, performs clerical work in utility billing, maintaining, processing and verifying accurate information for customer utility accounts such as bills, deposits, services, refunds and adjustments. Processes and maintains records of maintenance and inspections of work orders.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

The work is normally light and may require exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and up to 10 pounds frequently to move objects. Additionally, the following physical abilities are required:

Under general supervision, performs clerical work in utility billing, maintaining, processing and verifying accurate information for customer utility accounts such as bills, deposits, services, refunds and adjustments. Processes and maintains records of maintenance and inspections of work orders.
Essential Job Functions
- Maintains files, exception reports, postings, and billing registers.
- Originates accurate utility monthly bills and adjusts accounts and generates corrected bills.
- Processes final billing, customer account refunds, and returned checks from final refunds.
- Issues and completes work orders that aid in the accuracy of billing records.
- Resolves utility billing related issues.
- Secures and enters truck meter readings brought in for inspection.
- The majority of position duties are required to be performed on-site.
- Validate appropriate services assigned to customer's account to ensure the accuracy of billing records.
- Essential Employees may be required to work during a declared or undeclared emergency.
- Performs other related job duties as assigned.
- Knowledge of different rates and services for the various local and county government agencies that the city bills.
- Knowledge of utility billing procedures and practices, standard office practices, methods and procedures.
- Ability to make arithmetical computations quickly and accurately.
- Skill in the use of a variety of computer programs, including Microsoft Office, and various other office equipment.
- Ability to properly and accurately apply bookkeeping and accounting principles both in actual work and review of same.
