What are the responsibilities and job description for the Ward 8 Neighborhood Bridge Builder position at City of Cleveland?
Councilwoman Stephanie D. Howse-Jones is seeking a Neighborhood Bridge Builder to serve the residents and stakeholders of Cleveland’s Ward 8 (AsiaTown, Downtown, Goodrich-Kirtland Park, Glenville, Hough, St. Clair-Superior).
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Resident Relationship Building by attending neighborhood clubs, tenant meetings, and senior gatherings, building trust with residents who feel disconnected from government and conducting door-to-door outreach for priority initiatives.
- Business Corridor Support by regularly visiting businesses to identify needs, concerns, and opportunities to connect businesses to city programs and safety resources.
- Resource Navigation by helping residents understand city processes and connecting people to housing, safety, sanitation, and health resources.
- Partnership Development by building relationships with churches, schools, nonprofits to grow community stakeholders in ward 8.
- Early Issue Detection to identify patterns in neighborhood concerns and report emerging issues before they escalate.
- Community Presence represent the Ward 8 office in the neighborhood and at events to build a sense of belonging and connection.
- General Office Duties assist in organizing meetings, events, and general office duties (calls, emails, filing, mail sorting).
- Support Team Members assist the Councilwoman & Executive Assistant as needed.
- Joy In Action Have fun and find joy in serving the Ward 8 community!

POSITION DETAILS
- Hourly Rate: $50,000 yr.
- Schedule: Some evenings (until 8:30pm) & occasional Saturdays
- In the Neighborhood Work: Position requires a team member to walk and drive daily to engage residents, business owners and other community members.
