Description
Location: In-person, 601 Lakeside Ave., Cleveland, Ohio 44114
Work Schedule: Full-time flexible scheduling between 8 am and 5 pm,Monday-Friday with some weeknights and weekends.
Examples of Duties
Under administrative direction, is responsible for planning and adminstering a specific project or program for a City department. Serves as the administrative supervisor on projects or programs. Plans, assigns, supervises, and reviews activities of subordinate personnel. Monitors the project or program's operating budget and assists in the annual preparation of same. Designs, implements, and monitors procedures utilized in program evaluation. Develops and secures commitments from other City departments and agencies to provide services to program participants. Provides technical assistance or reviews program policies and procedures. Maintains current information and oversees the preparation of project status reports. Prepares financial and narrative reports and program applications. Communicates project/program status and information to municipal officials and/or public and private entities. May supervise employees assigned to the respective project. Performs other related duties as required.
Minimum Qualifications
A High School Diploma or GED is required. A Bachelor's Degree from an accredited four year college or university in Business or Public Administration, Social Sciences, or closely related field preferred. Two (2) years of full-time, paid, progressively responsible experience in program administration is required. Must be able to lift and carry thirty (30) pounds. A valid State of Ohio Driver's License is required.
Supplemental Information
- Establish and promote community relationships with the Hispanic community, staff and organizations by attending meetings and events.
- Enhance Hispanic community involvement, city initiatives and resources.
- Develop/organize events to celebrate the Hispanic culture in an effort to create and maintain cultural values and traditions. This is inclusive of all Hispanic ethnicities represented in the city.
- Develop and organize resource events specific to the ethnic needs of the community as well as support the District Reps with their events including distributing information about events and meetings to the Hispanic residents.
- Must also work with Hispanic Refugee/Immigrants that are new to Cleveland and assist with information about City Services.
- Required Monthly tracking of all events, attendance, meetings and outreach of Hispanic Residents.
- Translation assistance of City Initiatives, Programs and Information to help Hispanic Residents.
- Keep the Hispanic community aware of city resources, information and initiatives.
- Meet with the advisory board at least quarterly.
- Continually seek sponsorship funds (monetary and in-kind) for events and resources.
- Maintain an awareness of cultural relevant events, resources available outside of those offered by the city and be available to those organizations.
- Represent the Director and or Mayor at Hispanic events in their absence.
- Serve as an advocate on issues, concerns, problems in the community and addressing these concerns with supervisor and or director
- Make District Reps aware of any issues, complaints, events in their area. Assist as needed.
- Other duties assigned by supervisor/director as department needs arise.
- Work with Hispanic Advisory Committee and Hispanic Employee Heritage Committee to assist in communicating information about the community.
- Build understanding and engagement among Safety Departments
- Establish a planning committee to assist with events and activities. At least 3 members must be city employees
Preferred Qualifications:
- Must be fluent in Spanish Translate information both verbal and written.
- Strong fluency in Microsoft Office products like PowerPoint, Word, Excel, etc.
- Ability to work independently, exercising responsible judgment and initiative
- Ability to work in a team environment
- Must have excellent verbal communication skills and exceptional interpersonal skills
- Candidate must be available to work within the prescribed hours or if flexible hours or offered, during the season in which he or she is employed.
- Knowledge of social media, photography, and marketing.
