Duties include using tools and equipment to maintain, repair, and construct streets, drainage, and alley systems.NECESSARY KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIESEntry-level position must possess the willingness to learn and the ability to follow written and oral instructionsAbility to read simple maps and drawings, pick up trash, keep storage areas clean, orderly, and in safe working conditionsAbility to operate all machinery needed to perform assigned dutiesAbility to make minor repairs and adjustments to assigned equipment in the field or as directedBasic understanding of and/or experience in pavement maintenance and constructionAbility to work effectively and cooperatively with other employeesAbility to work under adverse weather conditionsEDUCATION AND EXPERIENCEHigh school graduate or equivalent; ORAny equivalent combination of experience and training that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.ENVIRONMENTAL FACTORS AND SAFETY HAZARDSPrimarily in the outdoor environment, with the ability to operate indoors when needed. May be exposed to extreme heat and cold during the summer and winter months.TOOLS AND EQUIPMENT USEDUses hand saw, Skill saw, chain saw, vibrator, bolt cutter, pick, axe, shovels, rakes, air compressor, jackhammer, cutting torch, various weight hammers, using proper safety precautions, may operate heavy equipment under supervision.
