What are the responsibilities and job description for the Police Officer position at City of Clayton?
The City of Clayton Police Department is currently seeking applicants for the position of Patrol Officer (entry or lateral). The successful candidate will be responsible for emergency operations including crash investigations, traffic control, crime suppression, investigation and prevention, civil disputes, and other related law enforcement activities. All officers must become proficient with the use of mobile data terminals, records management software, law enforcement data sites, and possess excellent interpersonal skills.
Requirements:
- State of Ohio Police Officer Certification (or currently enrolled in certified police academy)
- 21 years of age
- Valid State of Ohio Drivers License
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- No felony convictions
Equipment:
- Uniforms and necessary equipment provided
The desired candidate must be self-motivated, ethical, and moral and be able to work weekends, holidays, and rotating shifts. The selection process will include a written exam (entry level only), background check and an oral interview panel.
After the interview, a conditional offer of employment may be made to the top-ranking candidate pending the successful completion of a polygraph, psychological exam, comprehensive physical and drug screen.
All new hires are subject to a one-year probationary period.
