The City of Clayton Parks & Recreation Department is seeking applicants for the position of Municipal Service Worker II. The Municipal Service Worker II position performs skilled and unskilled grounds and facility maintenance and repair of the City's parks and related facilities systems. This position may also lead other crew members to ensure completion of work is accomplished. This is a working lead position.

The City's Parks & Recreation Department's Mission is "to improve the quality of life for our citizens through the provision of comprehensive leisure services and recreational opportunities to individuals of all ages, abilities and interests in a safe, healthy, and pleasant environment." The Parks & Recreation Department is divided into two divisions - Parks and Recreation. The Parks Division is responsible for effective and efficient maintenance services for park grounds, recreational facilities, park equipment and vehicles, park landscaping services, construction projects and special event support for the Recreation Division and the City of Clayton. Key duties and responsibilities of the Municipal Service Worker II:

  • Conducts routine inspections and troubleshoots and repairs HVAC, plumbing, refrigeration, fountains, irrigation and lighting systems within the Parks and related structures.
  • Schedules preventative maintenance needs on facility systems when necessary.
  • Trains, provides direction, sets work priorities, and assigns the work of other crew members assigned to maintain the grounds and facilities of the Department. Follows through to ensure completion of work.
  • Identifies maintenance and repair needs on various department facilities made prior to opening and closing seasonal venues.

These duties are normal for this position, but are not to be construed as exclusive or all-inclusive. Other duties may be required and assigned.

Minimum Qualifications of the Municipal Service Worker II Position:

  • High School education of equivalent required. One (1) year post high school technical training in a trade's related program preferred.
  • Four (4) years' work experience in park maintenance, landscaping or facility maintenance required, inclusive of responsibilities with HVAC, plumbing, refrigeration, irrigation, arboriculture or electrical systems.
  • Class B Commercial Driver's License (CDL) within six (6) months of employment.

Preferred Candidate Qualifications: ISA Certified Arborist, Horticultural experience
