Performs a variety of technical activities in support of various programs related to the operation and maintenance of the SMU or MSD wastewater collection system. Two years of total required experience must be stormwater, water, wastewater, or related utility industry experience.
Each applicant may substitute up to three (3) years of experience by possessing one or more of the following:
Possession of a valid driver's license.
Recommended to posses a Wastewater Collection Operator 1 (or higher) certification by the Ohio Environmental Protection Agency during the probationary period.
Some positions will require other certifications or licenses that must be obtained during the probationary period, such as:

- Thirty (30) or more college semester hours from an accredited college or university may substitute for 1 year of experience.
- Ohio Environmental Protection Agency Wastewater Collection Class 1 Operator’s License may substitute for 1 year of experience (not additive to the OEPA WWC Class 2 License).
- Ohio Environmental Protection Agency Wastewater Collection Class 2 Operator’s License or higher may substitute for 2 years of experience (not additive to the OEPA WWC Class 1 License).
Possession of a valid driver's license.
