About this OpportunityProvides basic preventative maintenance and servicing to City Vehicles and equipment. This position supports mechanics by performing varying degrees of preventative maintenance and shop tasks.

- Performs routine fluid and filter changes on assigned equipment
- Checks and tops off equipment fluids (coolant, brake fluid, windshield washer fluid, etc.)
- Inspects and inflates tires to proper pressure; may rotate tires as needed
- Greases fittings and lubricates moving parts
- May assist Mechanics with basic mechanical repairs and shop tasks under supervision
- Maintains a clean and organized work area and follows shop safety practices
- Completes through vehicle service checklist and basic work order documentation on assigned unit
- Attends work regularly at the designated time and location
- Adheres to all City policies, procedures, and safety protocols
- Participates in training opportunities to improve skills and knowledge
- Performs related duties as assigned
- High School Diploma or GED
- Six (6) months of basic automotive or mechanical experience
- Ability to follow written and verbal instructions
- Ability to communicate effectively (writing & verbal)
- Ability to work collaboratively with diverse populations
- Valid Driver’s License
- Must obtain a Commercial Class B (CDL) with air brake endorsements and valid Medical Examiners Certificate within one year of hire
- AC EPA Section 609 Certification, or willingness to obtain within 6 months of hire
- Monday-Friday 3:00pm-11:00pm
Hourly Rate
The Automotive Equipment Lube Technician is covered under the AFSCME Bargaining Union, and all new hires begin employment at $26.52 per hour, regardless of years of experience. Employees in this classification receive a step increase on their anniversary. The steps effective 7/1/2026 include:
