We’re looking for a Water Operator Associate who’s ready to learn, work hard, and grow into a skilled, licensed operator. In this entry-level role, you’ll work alongside experienced professionals maintaining and improving the City’s water distribution system—supporting everything from daily operations to emergency response.
What You’ll Do
No two days are the same. You’ll be out in the field, learning by doing and contributing to essential public infrastructure:
- Assist with maintenance and repair of water mains, service lines, valves, hydrants, and meters
- Help locate underground utilities and investigate leaks
- Support water system flushing, pressure testing, and sampling (chlorine, iron, etc.)
- Respond to customer concerns like low pressure, water quality issues, or leaks
- Operate tools and equipment—from hand tools to heavy machinery
- Assist with emergency repairs and 24-hour response situations
- Help maintain equipment, vehicles, and accurate records
- Support traffic control setups and job site safety measures
- Contribute to the City’s GIS system and infrastructure tracking

What We’re Looking For

Physical & Work Environment
This is a hands-on, outdoor role that requires:
- Heavy physical activity (lifting up to 50 lbs regularly, up to 100 lbs occasionally)
