Job Title: Certified Subject Area Teacher - EP3C Summer Camp
Location: Edward "Peel" Coleman Community Center
Camp Dates: June 8th - July 31st, M-F
Shift: Monday-Friday 8:00am-3:30pm (Camp hours: 8:30am-3:00pm)
Training: Required training will take place prior to camp start date
Reports to: Community Center Manager
Pay Rate: $18.50/hour
Position Summary:
Canton Parks and Recreation is hiring Certified Teachers to lead subject-based instruction in Art, Math, and Reading for the EP3C Summer Camp, serving youth in grades K-6. These educators will design and deliver engaging weekly lessons tailored to different age groups, fostering academic enrichment and creativity in a fun camp setting. Each teacher will also help maintain an organized, welcoming, and well-supplied classroom environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Create and deliver age-appropriate lesson plans and hands-on activities in one of the following subject areas: Art, Math, or Reading
- Adapt lessons for multiple grade levels (Kindergarten through 6th grade)
- Engage students through interactive learning methods that encourage participation, creativity, and curiosity
- Maintain a clean, organized, and well-stocked classroom throughout the camp session
- Collaborate with other staff to ensure a consistent and enriching experience for all campers
- Track basic attendance and support positive classroom behavior management
- Communicate any classroom needs or concerns to the Site Coordinator or Camp Director
- Valid Ohio teaching license required in related content area (Art, Elementary Ed, or similar field)
- Experience teaching or working with children in K-6th grade
- Ability to develop creative and inclusive learning activities
- Strong classroom management and organizational skills
- CPR/First Aid certification preferred (or willingness to obtain)
- Positive attitude and commitment to youth development in a summer camp environment
