This is an open examination. To be eligible for this examination, applicants must be a U.S. Citizen or have a permanent residence card. Applicants must be a high school graduate or possess a GED, and be at least 18 years of age.
Examples of Work: Performs various skilled and semi-skilled tasks in City Buildings, including but not limited to; repairing, remodeling and maintaining buildings and related equipment. General cleaning; electrical and plumbing repairs, painting, carpentry and masonry work. Maintains building security. Operates and maintains building heating and air conditioning systems. Follows a preventative maintenance program for boilers, air handling and air conditioning equipment. Lubricates motors, adjusts fan belts and change filters. In the absence of a licensed Boiler Operator, may be required to maintain water treatment. May direct a crew of Laborers and/or Maintenance Operators unless a supervisor is present. Other related duties, not listed but consistent with and similar in nature to the above examples, may also be required.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Thorough knowledge of all building repair and remodeling techniques and methods. Knowledge of heating and cooling systems. Ability to work with all voltages of electricity. Ability to read blue prints. Ability to use various power and hand tools. Ability to work with various chemicals and solvents. Ability to lift heavy objects. Ability to read, write and communicate verbally. Ability to work with mathematical computations. Ability to walk, climb ladders, bend, stoop and stand for extended periods of time. Ability to work independently, without constant supervision. Must possess valid Ohio Driver's license at all times.
Acceptable Experience and Training: High School education or equivalent. Three (3) years' experience in all phases of building repair and remodeling; experience with the general operation of heating and air conditioning equipment; or an equivalent combination of education, experience and/or training which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
RATING
Your name will be placed on a list of eligible candidates upon receiving a passing score. Once the list has been established, your name will remain on the list for a period of one (1) year.

IMPORTANT NOTICE TO VETERANS

A member in good standing of a reserve component of the armed forces of the United States, including the Ohio National Guard, who successfully completes the member’s initial entry-level training shall receive a credit of fifteen percent (15%) of the person’s total grade given in the examination in which the person receives a passing grade.
