Position Details
As a Community Service Officer, your law enforcement career begins as you work alongside sworn officers and provide essential support with a variety of non-critical public safety and clerical tasks.

How you'll use your strengths every day
Community Service Officers value people and perspectives by:
- Championing the safety and supervision of park system users and property
- Supporting positive community relations through facility tours, court messenger service, and taking minor reports.
- Safeguarding recovered property under the control of the police department
They are on the leading edge when they:
- Assist with evidence handling and processing, and interagency report and evidence delivery.
- Coordinate equipment maintenance, inventory control and procurement.
- Assist with administrative tasks in records, crime prevention, and animal control.

- Providing assistance to patrol and investigation in the delivery of police services.
- Assisting with traffic direction, security standby, and vehicle lockouts.
- Assisting with prisoner booking, prisoner transport, and dispatch support
What you'll bring to help you be successful
- A High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Must be actively pursuing, or willing to pursue, a four-year degree (if not already obtained) in pursuit of becoming a full-time Police Officer
- A valid Driver’s License or eligibility to be licensed in the State of Minnesota
- A background or interest in local government work serving the community.
- An interest in developing what you do best and a commitment to valuing each colleague for their unique perspectives.
First round interviews will be held March 24, 2026.
Second round interviews will be held April9, 2026.
