The Maynard Aquatic Center provides year-round swimming activities and programming. The Burlington Splash Park and North Park Pool offer seasonal fun in the sun.

What You Will Do

Under the supervision of Aquatic Administrators, an Aquatics Fitness Instructor is responsible for teaching water fitness classes at city owned facilities, maintaining a safe and enjoyable atmosphere for class participants, and educating patrons on fitness and safety. Aquatic Center Operations:

• Solid understanding of the operational procedures and protocols of the Aquatic Center, ensuring smooth daily functioning.
• Ability to follow and implement departmental policies and safety standards to maintain a safe and efficient environment.
  
  

Instruction and Fitness Leadership:

• Instruct participants in effective workout methods, demonstrating proper techniques and movements with enthusiasm, safety, and clarity.
• Expertise in the musculoskeletal system to provide safe and effective fitness guidance.
• Prepare and organize workout routines, equipment, and music to create an engaging and motivating class environment.
  
  

Customer Service and Engagement:

• Assist patrons by answering questions, providing guidance, and ensuring a positive exercise experience for all class participants.
• Cultivate a welcoming and supportive atmosphere for individuals of all fitness levels.
  
  

Communication and Collaboration:

• Attend monthly meetings and actively communicate pool activities and facility needs with Aquatic Administrators.
• Collaborate with the Director and Assistant Director, following directions and providing feedback to improve overall operations.
  
  

Safety and Facility Maintenance:

• Ensure all safety standards are met, with consistent adherence to department and facility policies.
• Take proactive steps to maintain a clean and safe facility for all patrons.
  
  

Minimum Qualifications:

• Water Fitness Certification
• Instructors must remain current/updated with Certifications
  
  

Special Requirements:

• Candidate must be willing to obtain CPR/AED and First Aid
  
  

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:

• Work typically involves the ability to physically perform the basic life operational functions of stooping, crouching, reaching, standing, walking, fingering, grasping, feeling, talking, hearing and repetitive motions.
• Work necessitates visual acuity to determine the accuracy, neatness, and thoroughness of work assigned.
• The employee is subject to hazards including a variety of physical conditions such as proximity to moving mechanical parts, electrical current, working on scaffolding and high places, oils, noise, extreme heat, and vibration.
• The employee is in contact with potentially infectious bodily fluids during the performance of duties such as when providing first aid care and facility cleaning.
• Working conditions include both inside and outside environmental conditions.
