Duties
- Vehicle maintenance - transport department vehicles
- Transport evidence to/from state crime labs.
- Perform in the capacity of a front desk receptionist when necessary
- Data entry into department computer systems
- Prepare non-criminal incident and crash reports
- Traffic control (vehicle and pedestrian)
- Substitute as a school crossing guard - when available
- Issue local ordinance parking and warning citations
- Assist disabled motorists and vehicle lockouts
- Animal calls (when animal warden is not available)
- Standby for tows and complete tow reports
- Search prisoners
- Inventory prisoner property
- Fingerprint and photograph prisoners
- Assign arrest-booking numbers and maintain arrest log
- Complete state and federal arrest cards
- Maintain prisoner logs, transfers, and cell checks
- Feed prisoners when require
- Complete arrest jackets
- Check prisoners for warrants
- Bond prisoners
- Maintain lock-up area
Skills
- Strong communication skills to interact clearly and empathetically with diverse community members
- Knowledge of OSHA safety standards, First Aid procedures, CPR certification, and HIPAA privacy regulations for handling sensitive health information
- Ability to perform basic medical assessments including vital signs monitoring
- Familiarity with EPA environmental guidelines and compliance management practices
- Experience in emergency response protocols and incident documentation
- Excellent observational skills combined with proactive problem-solving abilities
- Ability to manage multiple responsibilities efficiently while maintaining a positive attitude
