What are the responsibilities and job description for the Water Safety Instructor position at City of Brooklyn Center?
Primary responsibility is to provide water safety instruction to the Brooklyn Center Community Center pool patrons.
*The Water Safety Instructor may work any of the following shifts:
Tuesdays 5 pm to 8 pm, September 15, 2026, to November 3, 2026
Thursdays 5 pm to 8 pm, September 17, 2026, to November 5, 2026
Saturdays 9 am to 12 pm, September 19, 2026, to November 7, 2026
- Teach skills in accordance with the American Red Cross and the Brooklyn Center Aquatics Program standards.
- Promote, teach and ensures the safety of all class participants,
- Completion of all progress reports, cards and Red Cross forms before the last class.
- Enforce and follow all facility policies, rules and regulations.
- Maintain current lesson plans.
- Lead swim lessons in a fun and engaging manner appropriate to the class demographic.
- Remain current in all certifications.
- Performs other duties as assigned or apparent.
- Must be at least 15 years old
- General knowledge of all swimming strokes
- American Red Cross Water Safety Instructor certification
Desired Requirements
Experience working with children
Fluency in Spanish, Hmong, or Somali.
Salary : $23 - $28
