DEFINITION:
Under the direction of a supervisory official, performs varied simple and moderately physically strenuous tasks involved in cleaning and maintaining offices, furniture, buildings, and grounds; may assist in making minor repairs to buildings or equipment; does other related duties as required.
MUST HAVE KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES:
- Knowledge of how to perform minor to moderate repairs on heating, electrical, plumbing, and other systems
- Knowledge and ability to diagnose malfunctions in heating, electrical, plumbing, and other systems
- Ability to supervise and oversee the work of outside contractors, when necessary, performing work on heating, electrical, and plumbing systems
- Ability and knowledge to obtain quotes when necessary from outside vendors
- Ability to assess and compare project quotes and project specs
- Ability to keep and maintain inventory of supplies, equipment, and materials
- Ability to follow and adhere to safety procedures and best practices
- Ability and knowledge to maintain maintenance logs and records
- Ability to perform preventative maintenance on equipment, systems
- Ability to prioritize projects and maintenance requests and complete projects in a timely fashion
- Ability to work effectively with other departments and employees
REQUIREMENTS/LICENSE:
- Appointees will be required to possess a driver's license valid in New Jersey.
Ability to read, write, speak, understand, and communicate in English sufficiently to perform the duties of this position. American Sign Language or Braille may also be considered as acceptable forms of communication.
