General Statement of Job
Essential Functions
- Maintain and update inventory of computer assets within the IT service desk software for assigned area of support.
- Perform imaging of new computers and install software required for each computer as needed per assigned area of support.
- Installs and maintains printers and peripheral devices as needed for assigned areas of support.
- Provide technical support to end user technical support for hardware and software systems in assigned areas.
- Complete assigned IT service desk tickets as required to support staff in areas of support.
- Assists with cybersecurity related tasks as assigned.
- Identify and correct hardware and software issues.
- Documents procedures, troubleshooting steps and issue resolution, process changes, and create knowledge-base articles in IT service desk software
- Accountable for inventory/property management
- Responsible for submitting proper paperwork for petty cash, such as mileage reimbursement
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Knowledge of:
- Windows and MAC operating systems, as well as common office applications, such as Microsoft Office
- Knowledge and practical experience with computer hardware, including desktops, laptops, printers, mobile phones, tablets, and peripherals
- Diagnostic tools to resolve common network or computer related issues, such as connectivity and configuration issues.
- Basic administrative duties including written reports, memorandums, letters and electronic correspondence, interaction with customers, and communication through telephone and meetings.
- Use of a variety of Microsoft Office Suite products to include Word, Excel, and Outlook, at an intermediate degree of proficiency
- Use of office equipment such as a computer, scanner, and copier
- Proficiency in Active Directory, Group Policy, and other network management tools
- Hardware and software troubleshooting
- Excellent customer service aptitude to assist with troubleshooting for end user support
- Multitask and prioritize tasks effectively in a fast-paced environment
- Communicate technical information in a non-technical method to support end users.
- Analyze complex problems and develop, recommend and implement solutions
- Follow basic technical documentation as provided by supervisor or vendors for use of computer resources.
- Work a flexible work schedule that includes weekdays, weekends, evenings, and an on-call rotation as needed.
- Acquire competency in the use of departmental computer software
- Establish and maintain effective working relationships with City Officials, employees, and the general public
Minimum and Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university AND
- Three (3) years of experience in computer desktop support or related field with familiarity of network infrastructure

Possession of one (1) or more of the preferred CompTIA Certifications:
- IT Fundamentals
- A
- Network
- Security
- State of Florida Class “E” driver’s license
- Post-secondary from an accredited college or university in an area of study such as Computer Science, Information Technology, Computer and IS Security, Computer Information Systems, or related field is preferred
- Four (4) or more total years of direct experience in computer desktop support or related field is preferred

When assigned to Police Services additional screening requirements include:
