What are the responsibilities and job description for the Maintenance Technician (Maintenance Tech) position at CITY OF BISMARCK?
This position performs technical duties in the maintenance and repair of a water or wastewater treatment plant or the operations and maintenance of the water distribution and sanitary sewer collection systems.
## Examples of Duties
Assists in the maintenance and repair of equipment; performs preventative and corrective maintenance; performs maintenance according to predetermined schedules and as needed.
Maintains and repairs compressors, pump, motors, valves, water mains, HVAC equipment, boilers and specialized process equipment, and related systems.
Cleans, repairs and maintains sanitary sewer mains, water mains, valves, fire hydrants, lift stations, etc.; operates wastewater collection lift stations and water distribution pump stations
Responds to after-hours emergencies.
Participates in rotating on call schedule.
Responds to and resolves customer complaints and concerns.
Assists in the preparation and maintenance of maintenance records.
Assists in the modification and installation of equipment and parts.
Monitors system operations and reports malfunctioning equipment to supervisor.
Cuts grass and maintains plant grounds; assists with snow removal.
Assists in tracking inventory of parts and supplies; unloads and processes chemicals.
Assists with building maintenance and modifications; performs carpentry, plumbing and electrical tasks.
Generates work orders and records the completion of work.
Locates underground utilities.
Performs related duties.
## Minimum Qualifications
Ability to read, write and perform mathematical calculations at a level commonly associated with the completion of high school or equivalent.
Sufficient experience to understand the basic principles relevant to the major duties of the position, usually associated with the completion of an apprenticeship/internship or having had a similar position for one to two years.
Possession of or ability to readily obtain a valid drivers license issued by the State of North Dakota for the type of vehicle or equipment operated.
