Financial Support Specialist
City of Bethlehem – Department of Administration, Bureau of Financial Services
The City of Bethlehem is seeking a detail-oriented and customer-focused Financial Support Specialist to join our Bureau of Financial Services. This position plays an essential role in supporting the City's financial operations by processing tax and utility payments, preparing tax certifications and refunds, maintaining accurate financial records, and providing excellent customer service.

Essential Responsibilities
- Review daily cashier transactions and prepare bank deposits.
- Process and reconcile daily receipt collections.
- Research tax accounts and process tax credits, overpayments, and refunds.
- Prepare tax certifications for property sales and refinancing transactions.
- Maintain and update tax, utility, and miscellaneous account information.
- Assist with capital asset research and other financial projects.
- Balance daily online utility payments.
- Prepare documentation for Accounts Payable to process refunds and manual checks.
- Post cleared checks and maintain financial records.
- Review, code, and enter monthly magistrate reports.
- Answer customer inquiries regarding tax certifications and financial records.
- Assist with distributing Accounts Payable checks.
- Open and distribute incoming mail.
- Perform general clerical and administrative support duties.
Qualifications
- Associate degree in Accounting, Business, or a related field required; Bachelor's degree preferred.
- Intermediate accounting knowledge.
- Experience with data entry and financial recordkeeping.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Excellent customer service and communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining accuracy.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- An equivalent combination of education, training, and experience that provides the required knowledge and abilities may be considered.
Preferred Skills
- Experience working with municipal finance, tax administration, or accounts payable.
- Experience with financial management software.
Schedule
- Full-time
- Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
- 7.5-hour workday (75 hours biweekly)
