What are the responsibilities and job description for the Forestry Intern position at City of Beloit?
Summer Seasonal: March - October; 30-40 hours/week
The Forestry Intern is responsible to perform, as an individual or as member of a team, various field and office tasks related to forestry management within city parks, green spaces, and/or city-owned property and facilities. Primary responsibility will be to update the tree inventory of all public trees in the City of Beloit using GPS equipment and GIS software. Under supervision, will also perform semi-skilled manual labor necessary to develop, maintain, or protect the urban tree canopy through such activities as transporting seedlings and tree trimming, removal and cleanup.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Wage: $18.00/hour

- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- A valid driver's license and satisfactory driving record.
- A minimum of one (1) year of responsible work experience, with experience in mowing, grounds maintenance, landscaping, tree pruning and related tree-care activities, including manual and semi-skilled work.
- GIS experience is preferred.
- Ability to obtain FEMA IS-100 and FEMA IS-700 within 3 months of hire.
- Other combinations of training and/or experience which can be demonstrated to result in the possession of the knowledge, skills and abilities necessary to perform the duties of this position will also be considered.
Wage: $18.00/hour
