Crops/Commodities: Seeds First-line supervision and coordination of
agricultural workers.
The below listed duties will take place on the farm.\

Under the direction of farm management, assign tasks and monitor crop
production operations. Train workers in techniques such as planting,
cultivating, or harvesting and in use of safety measures. Train workers
in safe equipment operation. Direct or assist with adjustment or repair
of equipment or machinery. Take directions from managers on work
schedules, production requirements, and conditions of equipment and
supplies. Maintain details of personnel actions. Operate employer\'s
electronic time keeping system. First-line supervisors do not have
direct hiring or firing authority but may be asked by farm management to
give warnings or take disciplinary action against works for safety or
work rule violations. Services to be performed will consist of assisting
in the process of determination & measurement with quality standards of
agricultural seeds. This is an essential and a required task for
labeling and preparing product for market. The purpose of the process,
to measure and meet minimum germination/vigor standards and
document/record, is required to meet Department of Agriculture seed
labeling law. Duties would include the planting of seeds, planting
preparation, counting seeds, soil and planting material management,
movement & placement of trays/ including carts in & out of a germinator,
measurement imaging of germinated seed, discarding of completed analysis
of germinated seed, washing and cleaning of trays once complete, site
cleanup, maintenance, painting seedling evaluation, sample receiving and
sample prep. This work would be performed at a Bayer owned and operated
lab nursery agricultural facility, on the farm. Workers may be asked to
use/handle a forklift.
Employer will train workers. Training will include but is not limited to
safety training and worker protection training videos. Training includes
general discussion of job duties and policies. Training will take place
at Orientation prior to working. Employees will be explained and have
read to them the Job Order. The employer will answer any questions the
workers may have.
Depending on responsibilities performed, registration certificates and
licenses held, workers will be paid on an hourly, piece rate or salary
basis. Regardless of the method of pay, workers will earn at least the
Adverse Effect Wage Rate for all hours worked, and overtime (if
applicable) will be paid for workweeks in which nonexempt work and more
than forty (40) hours are worked. Overtime will not be paid for
workweeks when workers become eligible to perform only exempt work and
are paid on a salary basis for all hours worked.
Work is to be done for long periods of time in the field, when plants
may be wet with dew and rain, and may be required during light rain,
snow, moderate winds, direct sun, high humidity and extreme
temperatures. Allergies to ragweed, goldenrod, insect spray, related
chemicals, etc. may affect workers ability to perform the job. Workers
must be able to perform the required work with or without reasonable
accommodations. Must wear assigned personal protective equipment when
required. Must report for work daily wearing appropriate work clothing
and boots or other durable oot wear. Casual clothing not permitted.
Workers wearing inappropriate clothing will not be permitted to start
work. Daily or weekly work schedules may vary due to weather, sunlight,
temperature, crop conditions, and other factors. Employer will notify
workers of any change to start/end times. Employees may experience a
temporary reduction in work and/or a temporary work stoppage due to the
natural agricultural cycle. Employer will request and maintain records
of each worker\'s permanent home address, e-mail address (when
available) and phone number.
