The City of Beaverton’s Public Works Department is hiring a Landscape Laborer in the Facilities Division. This position helps maintain the city’s trees and landscaped areas by performing hands-on tasks such as mowing, pruning, leaf removal, and debris clearing. The role involves operating a variety of tools and light equipment, supporting safe work zones, and assisting the public with project information. This position is well-suited for someone who enjoys outdoor work, values safety, and takes pride in contributing to a clean, well-maintained community.


This is a full-time, non-exempt, SEIU classified position. There is one vacancy.

  • Operate landscaping tools and equipment and do general labor tasks. 
  • Set up traffic signs and help direct traffic at work sites. 
  • Clean and take care of tools, equipment, and storage areas. 
  • Help notify Beaverton residents about upcoming projects and answer simple questions.
  • Help during emergencies when needed. 
  • Follow work procedures and help improve how the team works. 
  • Treat colleagues and residents with respect and help create a welcoming workplace. 
  • Support the city’s goals by doing high quality work. 
  • Additional duties are outlined in the Public Works Laborer class specification.
  • High school diploma or GED, and 
  • Some experience in general construction and maintenance; or
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience enabling the incumbent to perform the essential functions of the position. 

Licensing and special requirements

  • Valid driver’s license and ability to meet the city’s driving standards.
  • First Aid and CPR certification required following hire.
  • Ability to pass reference checks and education verification, and satisfy the requirements of a background check.
  • Ability to satisfy the requirements of a pre-employment physical and drug screen.

Wage range: $22.97 - $30.77 hourly

Starting pay within the posted range is based on a review of your related work experience, as required by the Oregon Equal Pay Act. We compare the experience shown in your application materials with the qualifications for the position. Applicants who meet the minimum qualifications will start at step one. Applicants whose work history clearly demonstrates additional directly related experience may be placed at a higher step within the range.
