JOB SUMMARY:
To insure that all grounds, parks, and outdoor equipment are safe, functional, clean and present an appropriate and pleasant appearance so that they can be properly utilized and enjoyed by citizens.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
The Seasonal Park & Golf Maintenance Worker is responsible for assisting the Parks staff in the upkeep and maintenance of all City parks, grounds and facilities.
- Grass cutting, watering, weeding, trimming, etc., of the grounds at the Government Center, the Holloway Recreational Complex (Rec Center, pool, tennis courts, etc.), Vlasis Park, New Ballwin Park, The Pointe, Ferris Park and common ground areas, OR the Ballwin Golf Course.
- Assistance with in-house construction and repair projects in parks and City facilities.
- Removing weeds.
- Cleaning of equipment.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Sod removal and installation.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:
- Working knowledge of construction, maintenance, and landscaping practices and methods.
- Working knowledge and ability in the use of manual and power tools used for grounds maintenance, and construction projects (weed-eater, brush chipper and assorted hand tools.)
- Ability to perform physical labor for extended periods indoors and outdoors, under a variety of weather conditions, and lift up to 100 pounds.
- Ability to understand and carry out oral and written instructions.
- Ability to operate mowers, tractors, and trucks.
- Ability to work cooperatively and effectively with supervisors and other employees, as well as independently as necessary.
- Ability to understand and work within safety guidelines.

EDUCATION, QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
- Must be at least 16 years of age
- Some experience preferred.
Up to 40 hours per week. Some weekends required.
