What are the responsibilities and job description for the System Analyst I - Application and System Support position at City of Aurora, IL?
The City of Aurora is accepting applications for the position of System Analyst I in the Information Technology Department.
The System Analyst is responsible for ensuring the day-to-day operation and maintenance of all City systems and applications supported by the Information Technology Department.
Duties of this position include but are not limited to: Install, move and maintain hardware; Install and configure software; Manage and configure applications; Respond to application-related incidents, service requests, and change tasks in the ticketing system; Perform first-line technical troubleshooting (logs, SQL queries, configuration checks, connectivity, API call tracing); Document steps, workarounds, and outcomes and create or update knowledge base articles and runbooks; Monitor dashboards and alerts to proactively identify performance and availability issues; Execute routine operational tasks (patching, configuration updates, environment checks, error queue clean-up, and scheduled jobs); Support vulnerability remediation and secure configuration practices in applications; Train end-users or frontline support on new features, common troubleshooting steps, and best practices; Identify patterns and propose fixes, automation, or documentation improvements to reduce repeat incidents; Integrate systems from multiple City departments and/or divisions; Other related duties as assigned.
This position requires an Associate’s Degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Business or related field. This position also requires at least one (1) year of experience in a related field, preferably in a municipality. Must also possess a valid driver’s license.
Must successfully pass pre-hire requirements including but not limited to a physical, drug screen, and background check.
This is a full-time, union represented position. Candidates must be willing to participate in on-call/after-hours rotation and support releases or maintenance windows. Starting hourly pay is $40.83/hr.
