What are the responsibilities and job description for the Clerical/Customer Service Eligibility List position at City of Aurora, IL?
The City of Aurora is accepting applications to establish an eligibility list for various clerical and customer service-related positions. This list will be utilized to fill the following positions: Account Clerk I, Account Clerk II, and Customer Service Representative. These positions report to various departments/divisions within the City of Aurora including Revenue and Collections, Water Billing, Purchasing, Accounting, Development Services, and Customer Service.
Duties include but are not limited to: Assist the public with inquiries and provide general information about departmental rules, regulations, and procedures; Assist the public in completing forms and making various applications; Assist in resolving basic complaints; Conduct research on a variety of items including accounts and properties; Perform data entry and word processing functions; Perform cash handling to accept payments from the public; Process invoices, public licenses, and permits; Perform tasks related to the administration of purchase orders; Assist in mailroom and/or open, sort, process, and distribute office mail; Establish and maintain a variety of general office files and confidential files; Other duties as assigned.
These positions require a high school diploma or GED. These positions also require at least one (1) year previous clerical experience. Must be able to type 35 words per minute, corrected.
Must successfully pass pre-hire requirements including but not limited to a typing test, written Civil Service exam, polygraph, physical, drug screen and background check.
These are union represented positions. The hours of the position will vary and may be part time or full time depending on the vacancy.
Beginning hourly pay for Account Clerk I is $21.62/hour, after 6 months $22.11/hour, after 1 year $22.87/hour, and annual increases thereafter.
Beginning hourly pay for Account Clerk II and Customer Service Representative is $24.97/hour, after 6 months $25.53/hour, after 1 year $26.10/hour, and annual increases thereafter.
