Traffic Engineer II (ATLDOT) Atlanta, GA, United States Job Description Posting Expires: 12/23/25 Salary Range: $68,156.41-$90,988.81 General Description and Classification Standards: Manages engineering projects, which includes providing professional/technical engineering, engineering design and review, writing standards, survey work, and inspections. Completes and oversees a variety of assignments in one or more specialized areas of transportation systems and programs involving research, planning, design, technology, materials, construction, traffic safety, traffic operations and maintenance. Supervision Received: Perform work under general supervision with review and advice from manager or a senior level professional. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: These are typical responsibilities for this position and should not be construed as exclusive or all inclusive. • Prepare and approve designs for Public Services/Engineering projects in accordance with general engineering principles and City standards. • Conduct construction inspections, review and approve contractor pay requests, review and process construction change orders. • Manage the maintenance of traffic control devices through subordinates. • Conduct traffic studies to determine the safety and appropriateness of traffic control devices on the roadway and at intersections. • Investigate traffic problems and recommend methods to improve traffic flow and safety. • Use technology to monitor traffic flow and conditions. • Maintains high ethical standards and professionalism. • Provides transparent visual reports of design and construction transportation projects within the City of Atlanta. • May perform other duties as assigned. Knowledge Skills and Abilities: This is a partial listing of necessary knowledge, skills, and abilities required to perform the job successfully, it is not an exhaustive list. • Knowledge of civil engineering principles and practices. • Knowledge of drafting. • Knowledge of public works design and construction. • Ability to operate personal computers, plotters, and related GIS equipment and software. • Knowledge of the Microsoft software package. • Ability to instruct others in the operation and use of engineering software. • Ability to direct the work of others. • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees, other divisions, and the public. • Ability to follow written and oral instructions. • Ability to communicate effectively, verbally and in writing. • Ability to read, interpret and produce maps, engineering drawings and graphics from engineering software. Minimum Qualifications: Education and Experience – 1. Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering. 2. Three (3) years of experience in traffic and/or transportation engineering. Licensures and Certifications – Georgia driver’s license. Preferred Requirements – Three (3) plus years of experience in traffic and/or transportation engineering; EIT certification. Work Environment: Required physical, lifting, and sensory capabilities are requirements to perform the job successfully. Typical environmental conditions associated with job. Lifting Requirements: Sedentary work: Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body.

Salary : $68,156 - $90,989
