General Function
The Program Director manages and coordinates the day to day operation of the 7 week summer youth park program and is responsible for ensuring the program is running smoothly, the children are having fun and the environment is safe.
Duties and Responsibilities
· Apply appropriate behavior management techniques while teaching staff and building relationships with parents to best serve the youth.
· Works with the Assistant Director to manage disciplinary action as needed, including youth and staff.
· Oversee the use of equipment and facilities. Reports damage to facility immediately to the Assistant Director
· Oversee safe drop off and dismissal process.
· Implement department safety and emergency policies to maintain health, safety and welfare of all youth and staff.
· Plan, supervise and lead the daily operations of the Town Park Program and create a fun and creative experience for youth.
· Assist in preparing and facilitating staff orientation as well as weekly staff meetings.
· Coordinates “in-house” program entertainment, theme days and field trips.
· Calculates and submits payroll for employees on bi-weekly basis.
· Schedules staff for early start and extended day.
· Plan, teach, follow-up and evaluate the work of program staff and counselors in training.
· Prepares report for the last week of the season with recommendations for the future.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
· Must have strong leadership skills, experience working with children, an outgoing and positive personality, energetic, self-motivated, highly organized and have the ability to effectively engage and lead a group of children and staff.
· Must be able to effectively communicate with a group of children and parents and stay calm in emergency or difficult situations.
· Group management skills including headcounts, maintaining staff ratios, handling conflicts in a positive and constructive manner and being able to adapt to challenging situations.
Qualifications and Requirements:
- Minimum age 21 years
- High school graduation or the equivalent, preferably a BA
- Minimum 2 years of experience leading and supervising groups of children in a recreational or school setting. Experience supervising staff preferred.
- Current certification in First Aid and CPR, or able to become certified before program begins (current certifications must be maintained throughout

Hours of Work:
40 hours per week; Monday-Friday; Hours 8:30 pm – 4:30, (may flex with extended day program)

Wage:
$23.00 – 25.00 per hour
