Primary Purpose
Under general supervision, performs technical and clerical work in the maintenance and operation of the city's weigh station and landfill areas.
Qualifications
Education/Certification/Experience:
Valid Texas Driver's License with an acceptable driving record.
1 years' experience in cash handling
1 years' experience in manual labor and maintenance
High School Diploma/GED
Special Knowledge/Skills
Ability to understand and follow detailed written or verbal instructions
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals
Ability to operate light equipment (weed eater, mower, etc.)
Ability to communicate effectively with others
Ability to calculate math problems, working with weights, ratios, using moderately complex arithmetic
Major Responsibilities And Duties
Supervises the scale house and landfill field maintenance personnel.
Full-time Employees Receive
Tools/Equipment Used: Shovels, lawn care equipment such as mowers, weed eaters, pruning shears, and other hand or electrical tools, common office equipment
Posture: Frequent sitting, standing, kneeling/squatting, bending/stooping, pushing/pulling, and twisting
Motion: Frequent walking, climbing; grasping/squeezing, wrist flexion/extension, crawling
Lifting: Heavy lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling (80 pounds) occasionally
Environment: Work outside or inside, on slippery or uneven walking surfaces; frequent exposure to extreme hot and cold temperatures, dust, dirt, sewage, water. toxic chemicals and materials, noise, and vibration; work around moving objects or vehicles; insects, rodents, may work alone, regular exposure to high heat, fast moving mechanical parts

Major Responsibilities And Duties
- Weigh vehicles, assess correct fees
- Prepares ticket and conducts accurate financial transactions
- Responsible for keeping records of financial transactions and reconciliation of till
- Compiling and maintaining reports for TCEQ (Texas Commission on Environmental Quality) and others on a daily, weekly, and monthly basis
- Maintains records of employee trainings
- Sets up barricades when required to protect employees and the general public
- Directs traffic when needed
- Ensure the landfill department is in compliance with city policies and TCEQ requirements
- Reports irregularities and/or special circumstances to the MSW Director or designee
- Provides excellent customer service, answers and directs questions to the proper authority
- Assigns duties as necessary to Field Maintenance Workers for conducting proper business
- Acts as the liaison between the Director and the EO II's, and EO III's
