Southern Field Maintenance, LLC is a leading forklift and heavy equipment dealership serving South Texas. Founded in 1984 and headquartered in Victoria, TX, SFM specializes in repairs and maintenance for industrial diesel/LPG/electric engines/motors across a wide range of equipment platforms.
With our recent expansion into the Corpus Christi area, we are seeking a motivated, independent, and growth-oriented technician to join our team.
Position Overview
The Heavy Equipment Mechanic / Forklift Technician is responsible for performing maintenance and repairs on forklifts, heavy equipment, and related diesel and LPG engines. The ideal candidate is safety-minded, efficient, and capable of working independently to complete assigned jobs.
Key Responsibilities
- Diagnose, repair, and maintain forklifts, heavy equipment, with diesel/LPG/electric engines/motors.
- Communicate effectively with the Parts Department for work order needs.
- Accurately document all work performed on each job through service software (Ipad).
- Maintain a clean and safe work environment.
- Take direction and provide regular updates to the Branch/Service Manager.
- Operate and maintain a service truck for field work.
Requirements
- Minimum 5 years of experience as a heavy equipment or forklift mechanic.
- Must have own basic tools to perform required work.
- Experience using diagnostic computers.
- Valid Driver’s License with a clean driving record.
- Physically capable of lifting overhead and performing tasks independently.
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Willingness and ability to work overtime as needed.
- High energy and efficiency with a strong work ethic.
Preferred Qualifications
- Welding ability (MIG/Stick) – not required but a plus.
- Broad experience working across multiple types of heavy equipment.
