What are the responsibilities and job description for the Custodian - Part-time position at City of Albany, Georgia?
The purpose of this classification is to perform routine custodial tasks associated with the care and maintenance of assigned City of Albany departments.Performs general cleaning tasks in the maintenance of city buildings: dusting, vacuuming and or washing of fixtures, furnishings, windows, walls and doors; removes and disposes of waste; strips and waxes/polishes floors as needed or directed.
Ensures entrances are properly cleaned and made presentable to the visiting public.
Cleans restrooms and replenishes restroom supplies.
Requests the replenishing of and handles the storing of janitorial equipment and supplies.
Maintains the grounds of city buildings: mows grass and trims edges, trims hedges, rakes leaves, sweeps sidewalks, picks up litter, tends flower beds; monitors watering of grass, shrubs and grounds.
Performs minor maintenance and repair tasks: changes light bulbs; unstops sinks and toilets; notifies maintenance of needed repairs.
Performs manual labor: moves furniture as requested; runs errands; delivers supplies.
Picks-up, transports and supervises jail inmate crews; determines tasks to be performed.
May pressure wash buildings as directed.
Provides accurate, courteous information to public users; assists the elderly and citizens with special needs.
Responds to emergency maintenance and cleaning duties.
May deliver mail/messages to tenants.
Assists maintenance personnel as directed.
Cares for interior plants as needed; including watering, fertilizing, cleaning, and replacing.
ADDITIONAL FUNCTIONS
Performs seasonal projects as directed.
Performs other related duties as required.
Drives a government vehicle in the performance of required duties.High school diploma or GED required; some custodial experience preferred, but not required. Must possess and maintain a valid Georgia driver's license.
