GENERAL DESCRIPTION

 

Under direct supervision of the Supervisor – Grants Accountant, the Grant Manager will assist grant coordinators with their reporting, budgeting, and activity/project completion. Will assist with the design and implementation of grant projects and other activities required to support, sustain, and grow Abilene-Taylor County Public Health District’s grant programs. Supports senior leadership with other duties assigned.

IMPORTANT AND ESSENTIAL DUTIES

 

Assists grant teams with reporting requirements including but not limited to annual work plans, evaluation plans, monthly reports, quarterly reports, success stories, and other reporting requested by leadership, Board of Health, or DSHS (Texas Department of State Health Services).

 

Assists with the management of grant funds and expenditure of funds. Reviews and understands state guidance on allowable and non-allowable purchases and understands city purchasing guidelines. Serves as subject matter expert for grant team.

 

Aids in the research and development of grant tasks including but not limited to education and training materials, public speaking engagements, community-based outreach, and grant objective deliverables and content.

 

The Grant Manager will assist with the completion and delivery of grant tasks.

 

Research and write grant applications to increase funding and the capacity of the Health Dept.

 

Develops grant management plan to ensure grant projects are on time and meet grant standards as established in the individual grant work plans and (SOW) statements of work.

 

Supports the ATCPHD Senior Leadership Team (Director, Assistant Director and Director of Nursing) in various aspects of the Health Department including special projects. This may include but is not limited to: preparing various forms of internal and external communication such as emails, memos, city council agendas, presentations, reports, and policies and procedures.

 

Assists the Media Specialist by responding to social media inquiries, creating and posting to social media, and updating the websites.

 

Prepares high-quality, well-written, inquiries, letters, proposals and grant/program applications and renewals. These processes require an in-depth understanding of research, data collection, and writing and editing. May assist with researching and applying to future grant opportunities.

 

Drives to offsite outreach events, meetings, trainings/conferences as assigned.

 

Throughout the course of daily work, may have access to HIPAA protected information. 

 

Will abide by all state and federal regulations regulating personal health information.

Write eye-catching narratives free of spelling and grammatical errors.

Communicate technical information to nontechnical audiences.

 

            Lead, motivate, and guide projects and processes.

            Ability to:

 

            Prioritize work appropriately in order to meet multiple deadlines.

           

            Build and sustain working relationships with partners across                                sectors.          

 

Work independently and make sound business decisions.

 

            Establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with those contacted in the course of work, both internally and externally.

Experience and Training Guidelines:

 

For positions with more than one level, all listed requirements at the lower levels are required at the higher levels. Any combination equivalent to experience and training to provide the required knowledge, skills, and abilities may be qualifying.  Knowledge, skills, and abilities may be obtained through:

 

Experience:

           

Minimum of two (2) years of experience working with federal and state grants either through administration or implementation is preferred.

 

Education/Training:

           

A Bachelor’s degree in public health, public administration, social work, business, or a related field is required.

 

A certificate or graduate degree in public health is preferred.

           

            License or Certificate:

           

A valid Texas driver’s license, the ability to obtain one within ninety (90) days of employment, or a military waiver is required.

 

Special Requirements:

 

Ability to work flexible hours including mornings, nights, and weekends.

 

Ability to work in a standard office environment.

 

Some work may be performed in a non-standard office environment such as in a mobile or temporary location and may include exposure to cold, heat, noise, outdoors, vibration, chemicals and biological hazards.

 

Travel to different local sites as well as other required travel in conjunction with ATCPHD objectives
