The Utilities team is currently looking for a Full-time Utilities Technician I with less than 2 years of relevant experience in Utility Division repair and/or operations areas (i.e. construction, maintenance, repair, meters, etc).
We have a current opening on the Water crew. Main duties include: inspecting and maintaining utility infrastructure, responding to main breaks or backups, and repairing utilities infrastructure. This position may support the Streets Division of Public Works as a plow driver for Snow and Ice Operations.
Total Compensation Package
Salary Range: $25.34 - $30.97/hour

- Assists with the programs for Maintenance of Condition as related to the water distribution system
- Responds to main breaks, backups, and repair of utilities systems
- Performs preventive maintenance and routine repairs on equipment.
- Assists in major maintenance and repairs to division equipment.
- Operates and maintain construction and maintenance equipment used in the department including as pick-up trucks, tractors, loaders, dump trucks, backhoe, jet truck, CCTV van, utility truck, snow blowers, gas analyzers, shovels, pick-ax, sledge hammers, and hand tools
- Performs all duties in conformance to appropriate safety and security standards.
- Provides back-up coverage in the operation of snowplows during inclement weather.
- Acts as troubleshooter to resolve problems within a particular area of assignment.
- Advises the Foreman, Manager and applicable administrators of potential problems or concerns.
- High School Diploma/GED - required

- Some experience with utilities systems preferred
- Class B Commercial Driver’s license - required with 6 months of hire
- Class 1 Water Distribution certification from the State of Colorado - required within 1 year of hire
- Must be at least 18 years of age
- Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license and safe driving record for continued employment.
- Able and willing to work on-call duty which requires working weekends on a rotating basis and working all hours during emergency repairs as needed
- New hires must, as a condition of employment, pass the following pre-offer and post-offer/hire processes: in-person or virtual interviews, reference checks, background checks including local police check and sex-offender registry, DMV check, and pre-placement physical and drug screen
- Work is generally scheduled between Monday and Friday with some weekend and holiday work required.
- Position also involves on-call duty which requires working weekends on a rotating basis and working all hours during emergency repairs as needed.
- Attend meetings as assigned during evening hours.
- Required to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects.
- Physical demands are described as very heavy (exert in excess of 100 lbs. of force occasionally, and/or in excess of 50 lbs. of force frequently, and/or in excess of 20 lbs. of force constantly in order to move objects).
- Required to talk or hear; stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; bend or twist from the upper body; use hands and/or feet to perform manual tasks such as digging; push or pull; reach with hands and arms; squat; stoop; crouch; and climb or balance.
- Tasks may require sitting at a computer for several hours.
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, depth perception, the ability to adjust focus, color vision, and peripheral vision.
- Travel by automobile is required to reach work sites and attend meetings.
- Requires indoor and outdoor activities to include conditions of extreme heat and cold, working in trenches or excavations, and around offensive odor.
