The schedule for this full-time position is typically Monday through Friday, 6:30 AM to 3:00 PM with flexibility to adjust to evening and weekend shifts based on operational needs.

Essential Functions
- Drives and/or operates a county vehicle or equipment and must obey all safety policies, and roadway rules and laws.
- Fertilizes lawn and landscaping. Maintains logs of products and chemicals used.
- Performs pond maintenance.
- Assists with median irrigation and landscaping.
- Assists with liter control in parks, green spaces, roads, and rights-of-way.
- Performs general maintenance on equipment and facilities.
- Mows, trims, edges, and weeds turf and green spaces.
- Completes work orders and daily paperwork of finished tasks.
- Maintains sports fields and restroom facilities.
- Performs minor repairs on fences.
- Paints and cleans buildings, as necessary.
- Inspect piers, boat ramps, walkways, gazebos, playgrounds, park amenities, tables and benches in County parks and public areas.
- Assists with disaster preparedness and emergency response in event of a natural disaster or other emergency event.
- Performs other duties as required.
Education, Training, and Experience
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
- Six (6) months relevant experience, preferred.
- Successful completion of classes in turf grass or grounds maintenance, preferred.
- Must have sufficient physical strength, agility, and stamina to perform outdoor labor in various weather and environmental conditions.
- Ability to use effectively standard landscaping tools and equipment.
- Ability to follow verbal and written instructions and complete tasks independently or as part of a team.
- Effective communication skills.
- Requires ability to maintain courteous and effective relations with County staff, elected officials, community interest groups and the public.
- Ability to work after normal business hours (includes nights and weekend) for operational need and in response to emergencies.
- Valid Florida Driver License or must obtain within 30 days of establishing residency in Florida.
- Must have or be able to obtain within 90 days certification in FEMA National Incident Management System (NIMS) courses:
- IS-100.c: Introduction to the Incident Command System (ICS); and
- IS-700.b: An Introduction to the National Incident Management System
- Requires standing and walking most of the workday. Require working primarily outdoors.
- The job involves frequently lifting up to 50 pounds. Frequent carrying up to 10 pounds, while occasionally up to 20 pounds.
- The job requires frequent bending, squatting, kneeling, balancing, twisting, and reaching above shoulders, and occasionally climbing and throwing.
- Task require simple grasping, pushing, pulling, fine manual manipulation, operating foot controls/levers, driving automotive equipment, and occasionally operating a manual transmission and working in darkness.
- The job requires normal visual acuity and field of vision, hearing, speaking, color perception, and depth perception.
- The job may risk exposure to adverse weather, moving machinery, fumes and gases, dust and chemicals, and extreme noise.
